os·cil·la·tion
/ˌäsəˈlāSH(ə)n/
variation or fluctuation between two extremes of opinion, action, or quality.

This series embodies the fluctuation an artist must develop to broaden their aesthetic boundaries. Each piece evolves by recurrent multimedia application of fresh material over earlier layers, widening my artistic perspective with each pass of the artistic pendulum. As the work unfolds I push against the level of comfort I have attached to its previous state, stimulating growth. The work speaks less about hidden meaning, more about revealing the artist’s process with each oscillating mark. I don’t want to settle for complacency, I want to push forward on creative limits. To do this we must not dwell in our comfort zone but seek perspective by letting go of our own attachment. ~ Ashley Swindoll
