I’m delighted the the gallery is hosting the first US exhibition of artwork by the talented Bren Govender, Fleeting Glimpses.
Bren has recently relocated to NC from South Africa, and her remarkable multi-media portraits capture transient, momentary, fleeting expressions of the human spirit. The show includes over 30 works, large and small. Not to be missed.

About the Artist
Born and raised in South Africa, artmaking has always been an intrinsic part of Bren Govender's life, personality, and identity. Her work evolves during the process of experimentation with the style and subject matter varying. Currently focusing on mark-making in charcoal and its expressiveness, she works in several mediums, including painting, drawing, and photography. Her studies in graphic design have allowed her artistic interests to encompass a variety of new media.
Her work leans to heavier, darker mark making, drawing inspiration from everyday life, travels and translating to a variety of motifs ranging from figurative to abstract. Her work also delves into identity, hers – her imagination, the past and future. This takes different forms, often distorted sometimes realistic always true.
